We hear more and more about energy, vibrations, alignment and frequency. In holistic approaches and personal development, these words are often connected to a simple idea:
Our inner state profoundly influences the way we perceive, feel and act in our lives.
This is the perspective behind what is commonly called Quantum Energy.
But what exactly does it mean? Is it really connected to quantum physics? And what do people mean when they talk about “raising their vibration” or attracting more positive experiences into their lives?
It is important to distinguish between science, metaphor and energetic practices.
✨ What is Quantum Energy?
Quantum Energy is a holistic approach that considers the human being through several dimensions: the body, emotions, mind, and what some spiritual traditions and energy practices describe as an energetic field.
The idea is that our sense of balance does not depend solely on what is physically visible.
Stress, repetitive thoughts, emotions, relationships, fatigue, our environment and difficult experiences can all influence the way we feel internally.
In energetic language, this may be described in terms of energy flow, energetic blocks, balance or vibrational imbalance.
Energetic practices generally aim to encourage a state of balance, calm and reconnection with oneself.
However, the word quantum deserves some clarification.
Quantum physics is a genuine branch of physics concerned with matter and energy at atomic and subatomic scales. It does not scientifically demonstrate that our thoughts emit frequencies capable of directly attracting love, money, relationships or particular life events.
Within “Quantum Energy” practices, the word quantum therefore belongs more to a holistic and metaphorical framework than to a direct application of quantum mechanics to personal development.
That distinction matters.
🌿 So what does “our vibration” mean?
We sometimes say:
“My energy feels off today.”
Most of us intuitively understand what this means.
Some days, we feel open, confident, enthusiastic and creative. We want to move forward, communicate and connect with others.
On other days, we may feel heavy, irritable, anxious or completely drained.
In energetic language, these states might be described as higher or lower vibrations.
But this idea can also be understood in a very practical way.
Our inner state influences our posture, attention, decisions, behaviours and the way we interact with our environment.
And this is where an interesting bridge with neuroscience can begin.
🧠 Our inner state changes what we notice
Our brain cannot consciously process every piece of information around us.
It is constantly selecting, filtering and prioritising information.
When we are highly stressed or feel threatened, our attention can naturally become more focused on problems, risks and negative information.
When we regain a greater sense of inner safety and mental availability, however, we may become more able to notice opportunities, explore possibilities and interact differently with the world around us.
That alone can change a great deal.
Imagine two people facing exactly the same opportunity.
One thinks:
“I'll never be able to do this.”
They hesitate, withdraw and perhaps decide not to try.
The other thinks:
“I don't know whether it will work, but I can try.”
They take action.
A few months later, their lives may look very different.
Not necessarily because the Universe rewarded the person with the “better frequency”, but because their inner states contributed to different behaviours.
And our behaviours influence the reality we build.
✨ Is this what it means to “attract”?
In energetic and spiritual approaches, we often hear:
“You attract what you vibrate.”
I prefer to add an important nuance to this idea.
We do not control everything that happens to us.
Someone experiencing illness, loss, financial difficulties or another painful event has not necessarily “vibrated badly”. Interpreting every difficult experience this way can quickly become unfair and guilt-inducing.
However, our inner state can influence the direction in which we move.
When we feel more balanced internally, we may be more willing to:
- recognise and seize opportunities;
- meet new people;
- establish healthier boundaries;
- leave situations that no longer suit us;
- take better care of ourselves;
- create and learn;
- try something new;
- persist when something becomes difficult.
This is where the idea of attraction becomes particularly interesting to me.
It is no longer about passively waiting for something to appear.
It is about becoming internally available to recognise, welcome and build what we would like to see grow in our lives.
🌲 Taking care of your energy
Taking care of your energy does not mean trying to remain positive all the time.
We are allowed to be sad.
We are allowed to be tired.
We are allowed to feel afraid, angry or overwhelmed.
An emotion labelled as “negative” is not a bad vibration that must immediately be eliminated.
Emotions can carry important information.
Taking care of our energy is instead about learning to recognise our internal states and, when possible, giving ourselves what we need to move through them.
Sometimes this can be surprisingly simple:
breathing consciously, walking through a forest, reducing stimulation, meditating, sleeping enough, moving your body, listening to music, writing, spending time with people who make you feel safe or simply finding a few minutes of silence.
Energetic practices can also be part of this process when they provide a meaningful space for reconnection, intention and inner awareness.
🍂 Energy + Brain + Behaviour
This is probably the part I find most fascinating.
I don't necessarily see energetic approaches and neuroscience as two worlds that must oppose one another.
They can represent different ways of interpreting our inner experience, provided that we remain clear about their different levels of scientific evidence.
Energetic language may speak about alignment, intention, vibration and energy.
Neuroscience may speak about the nervous system, attention, learning, emotions, behaviour and neuroplasticity.
And in everyday life, these perspectives can lead us back to the same question:
What kind of inner state do I want to cultivate in my life?
💫 “Vibrating well” doesn't mean being happy all the time
This is perhaps one of the most important ideas.
Having “good energy” does not mean smiling when everything is falling apart or repeating positive affirmations that you don't believe.
That would simply mean denying part of your experience.
For me, vibrating well is more about creating greater coherence between what I feel, what I need, what I want and the actions I choose to take.
Sometimes aligned energy feels joyful.
Sometimes it feels peaceful.
Sometimes alignment means saying no.
Sometimes it means walking away.
And sometimes it simply means telling yourself:
“Today, I need to rest.”
🌿 What if attracting the best starts here?
We probably cannot order every circumstance of our lives from the Universe.
But we can gradually transform the way we inhabit our own lives.
We can shift our attention.
Observe our thoughts.
Learn to regulate our inner state.
Change certain habits.
Take care of our environment.
Cultivate more of the emotions and experiences we want to see grow.
Set intentions — and then take actions that are consistent with those intentions.
Perhaps “changing our vibration” begins right there:
changing what we nourish within ourselves so that we can change what we become capable of creating around us.
This is where Quantum Energy makes the most sense to me.
Not as a magical promise.
But as an invitation to become more conscious of our energy, our inner state and the direction we want to give our lives.
Because when our mind, our energy and our actions begin moving in the same direction, we already start experiencing the world differently.
